Mexico Nabs Suspected Members of International Sex-Trafficking Ring

March 21, 2012

Latin American Herald Tribune on March 20, 2012 released the following:

“MEXICO CITY – Mexican police have arrested two suspected members of an international sex-trafficking ring that operates in Mexico and the United States, officials said.

The two detainees are 26-year-old Jaime Granados Rendon, who is wanted for extradition by the United States, and 32-year-old Raul Granados, the federal Public Safety Secretariat said in a statement.

Monday’s arrests were the result of coordination and exchange of intelligence with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the secretariat said, adding that the joint effort shed light on the routes the Los Granados gang used in Mexico City, Puebla and Tlaxcala, as well as in New York.

The two suspects were allegedly responsible for identifying and recruiting women at parks and recreation centers and taking them to the central city of Tlaxcala.

The women “later were transferred to Puebla, to Mexico City” or sent “directly to New York, the United States.”

The suspected human traffickers were arrested in Axochiapan, a town in the central state of Morelos, and have been jailed in the Mexican capital.

Another five members of that same gang were arrested in previous months in Tlaxcala. EFE”
